David Weinberg for Austin 2026

Hello, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m your neighbor David.  And I’m running to represent you in Austin’s City Council District 5. 

I’m not running for City Council to be the smartest person in the room.

I’m running to listen.

I’m running to deeply engage with the communities in District 5 and bring their voices to City Hall. And in doing so make our City Council smarter, better and more responsive.

My civic concerns include many things, among them:

➡️Having an ongoing conversation about public safety in our neighborhoods and schools that drives positive results.

➡️Listening to constituents about what level of commercial and residential development is appropriate for the district.

➡️Working with residents on their vision for a more vibrant and inclusive future for our parks and green spaces.

➡️Receiving the community’s approval before voting to green light multi-million-dollar city projects. Especially when we are being asked to pay more in taxes and face the possible closure of neighborhood schools. 

From now through next November, I will be talking with as many of my neighbors and friends in our district as possible and doing the most important job of a public servant: listening to the concerns of the residents of our city.
